Gifts In-Kind

In-kind gifts add to the feeling of support that students and their teaching fellows gain in Breakthrough. Some of the ways that host school and area families help with summer include:
Breakthrough Boutique: A Students-For-Students Drive
Chairs: Katie Bruce ’24 and Hannah Cheng ’24 - email links
Timeline: Full school year September-June | Deadline for Final Drop-off: First Friday in June
A summer tradition, Breakthrough Boutique is a fun, special activity where the students get to “shop” for great outfits for special times like Fancy Meal, Homecoming, proms, special school events/programs, and more. The brainchild of FWCD Upper School student volunteers and still run by them, the Boutique has grown so successful that Breakthrough families even gain outfits for the upcoming school year as well. Dresses, suits, shoes, ties, accessories and even school wear are appreciated, so when you or your student(s) clean out your closets, remember to plan those gently-used donations to the Breakthrough Boutique.
Books, Supplies and other needs
Timeline: January-May
New classroom supply donations are welcome and help free funds for the students’ other program needs year-round. Higher cost items that are always in demand include highlighters, post-it notes, tape and more. (Questions? Contact Renee Pierce or Joe Breedlove.) - email links
Breakthrough Summer Snack Drive

Presented through the FWCD Lower School, the annual Breakthrough Summer Snack Drive helps provide daily snacks for more than 200 students in the summer session and frees up nearly $3,000 in annual funding each summer. (See fliers for details or contact Chair Rosanne Sherrieb.)
