OUR COMMUNITY

Breakthrough Fort Worth students are youth committed to academic excellence, persistent work and achieving college goals. They enjoy being part of a supportive community and believe that more opportunity can be theirs if they work hard, stay focused on their goals and follow through.

Breakthrough teaching fellows are hard-working college/high school youth who are eager to help younger students succeed and who willingly invest themselves in leadership roles that will expand their skills, immerse them in a family of learners and build great memories.

Vital program family members, Breakthrough Fort Worth volunteers give considerable time helping to ensure that classes, activities and events happen. From setup volunteers to teaching assistants to project helpers, BTFW volunteers make summer sessions, school year Super Saturdays, family events and other projects the best that they can be.

These professional educators ensure that Breakthrough Fort Worth’s teaching fellow program is a meaningful development experience for the college/high school youth involved in leading summer classrooms and that instructional content and class time practices support the younger students’ learning needs.

Students and teaching fellows all become part of the Breakthrough Alumni family, which boasts an incredible pool of talent, commitment, achievements and schools. Making their own impact in the world, alumni advocate for the program and its students, return to help with current sessions and needs, plus donate to support the students’ participation. 

Our donating family members ensure that participating in the program remains free to the students (and families) served by Breakthrough Fort Worth. Their generosity provides supplies, trained and guided teaching fellows, meals, transportation, field trips and more for the students’ learning.
